Good reception for TV inquiry

THE riddle over poor television signals in hundreds of island homes, which some blame on a police station mast, could finally be solved this week.

Hundreds of residents in Holyhead claim a Tetra mast placed on the town's police station by MM02 is causing interference to their television receptions, and some feel so strongly that a petition was drafted.

On Monday, a representative from the police held a meeting with town council officials and announced they had commissioned an independent group to carry out a week-long survey to investigate the interference.

If this study proves the mast is causing a nuisance, the police could demand it is removed.

Keith Everett, town clerk, who met up with the police and investigators on Monday said: "We held a meeting with Ian Davies of North Wales Police.

"This week an independent survey is being carried out by Samdale Associates who will be going round to check television reception in the area."

Cllr Trefor Lloyd Hughes, deputy mayor of Holyhead, who also attended said: "The group are now looking into the matter and will report back to the town council in the next two weeks. It is important that people work in tandem.

"I have had problems with my television as well, but they are here to investigate it.

"In this case North Wales Police have been brilliant in trying to solve this problem."

Ian Davies explained that the police were very keen to solve the matter and were visiting homes in the town to measure interference levels.

He said: "We along with Samdale have been going into some of the houses who have reported interference to find out and check their signals. We are working with them to solve this.

"Residents are welcome to come to talk to us in the area this week with their concerns - you can't miss us, we are in a large black van with a quad bike on the back."
